We are proud to announce that as of February 2023, JUST ONE Tree has become an Actor in the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. We join 200 other organisations, nonprofits, and agencies around the world committed to preventing, halting and reversing the degradation of ecosystems on every continent and in every ocean.
As the UN-backed organisation’s mission makes clear, the benefits extend beyond saving vital ecosystems: “The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration can help to end poverty, combat climate change and prevent a mass extinction. It will only succeed if everyone plays a part.”
For JUST ONE Tree, this marks an important milestone in our growth. We started with a small seed of an idea, built a network of schools and organisations, grew into a global community, raised money, conducted research, built a network of partners, and planted trees. We’re now being recognised for the work we do for both people and the planet, and joining one of the most important organisations to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss.

“It’s a wonderful recognition for all the hard work the team and I have put into fighting climate change over the past few years,” says Amanda Bronkhorst, JUST ONE Tree Founder & CEO. “It’s also important validation that our core values and methodologies for effective reforestation, ocean restoration and climate education fall in line with those of the United Nations.”
Becoming an UNDER Actor means not only recognition but access to a broader range of projects. As part of the United Nations' task force for best practices and monitoring restoration efforts, we will gain vital insights, share our experiences and results, and build knowledge as our active participation and capacity grows.
“In joining the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration we’ll have even more access to the right connections and pathways to scale our impact on both people and planet,” Amanda Bronkhorst adds.
Join us. Let’s plant trees.
